
Carrie Klingelsmith, Executive Director

Carrie and her husband, Kendall, live in Petoskey with their two sons and two dogs. Carrie has a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Service Administration. She has a background in program development, fundraising, grant writing, event planning and execution, and community engagement.
Before joining Manna Food Project, Carrie worked in the public and private sector. She worked as a Parks and Recreation Director as well as a Planning Professional.
Carrie has a passion for enhancing the quality of life for all people. “I look forward to serving the community and making a positive impact for the people of Northern Michigan.”

Alannah Hofmann, Fund Development Coordinator
Start Date: August 2025
After a few years working in fundraising and public relations with nonprofits in Washtenaw County, Alannah recently made the move to Northern Michigan. With a background in development, she’s excited to bring her experience to support Manna’s mission and highlight the impact that’s possible when communities show up for one another.
Outside of work, you’ll often find Alannah by the water, filming wildlife and nature videos or spending time with her cat, Vinnie.

Katlyn Hansen, Business Manager
Start Date: October 2022
Katlyn and her husband, Billy, live in Petoskey with their two children and two dogs. Katlyn has a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Public Health and Nutrition. Katlyn’s background is in higher education, event planning, program development, community outreach and bookkeeping.
Katlyn worked previously at Manna and most recently at North Central Michigan College.
“I am extremely excited to be back at Manna. I’m blessed to have this opportunity, to serve our community and help those in need.”

Collin Hart, Director of Operations
Start Date: January 2023
Collin joined Manna with extensive experience across manufacturing, logistics, and food service industries. His diverse background gives him a unique understanding of supply chains and shapes his approach to operations management. Collin’s strong logistical skills help him coordinate daily operations in the food bank, overseeing the over one million pounds of food going in and out of the organization.
In his free time, Collin is passionate about cooking and music. Formerly in a band, Collin has is a skilled musician and plays the guitar, bass, keyboard, and mandolin. You can find Collin providing the best playlists, cooking great food, and bringing lots of laughs for any Manna function. “It’s nice to come to a job where you know you are making a difference in the community, no matter how big or small.”

Eric Foster, Warehouse Coordinator
Start Date: October 2018
Eric Foster worked in shipping and receiving with Mitchell Graphics for 13 years before coming to Manna. Eric likes to hunt, fish, and maintain his hobby farm with his wife, Amanda, and three kids.
He takes pride in working directly with our volunteers. “I love talking to them and learning their stories. We see so many people who have amazing histories and just want to give back. I’m so glad to be a part of it.”

Matthew McGuiness, Warehouse & Programs Coordinator
Start Date: March 2020
Matt is a Petoskey native, growing up with three brothers near Pickerel Lake where he and his wife, Jessica, are raising four children – two boys and two girls.
Matt has many talents – from carpentry to tree trimming to machine mechanics. He loves the outdoors and spends summer evenings and weekends on the family pontoon boat. Matt also hunts and has donated venison each year to Manna through the Petoskey Sunrise Rotary “Venison for Manna” annual fundraiser.
“I know how important Manna is in this community,” Matt said. “Not just to the people in need, but to all the families who come in to volunteer. I’m excited to work with such great people.”

Cherell Granger, Development & Communications Coordinator
Start Date: July 2023
A Michigan native, Cherell earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwood University in Marketing. Her background is in event planning and execution, marketing communications and management.
Cherell spends most of her free time with family, has a love of all animals, and enjoys walks in nature, especially along Northern Michigan’s many lakes and rivers. She is very excited to join such a wonderful organization and looks forward to making a positive impact in the community.

Andrew Wallace, Warehouse Assistant
Start Date: January 2025
While originally from Colorado, Andrew has lived in Northern Michigan since 2011. Andrew comes to Manna with a background in warehouse logistics. Andrew is excited for the opportunity to use his talents in a way that he can give back to the community.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys PC gaming and is an avid sports fan. His favorite team to watch is Colorado Avalanche, an NHL team from his home state.

Ian McAdams, Warehouse Assistant
Start Date: January 2026
Ian joins our team with a background in construction and warehousing, bringing valuable hands-on experience in loading trucks, receiving shipments, and keeping operations running smoothly. His practical skill set make him a great fit for supporting day-to-day logistics that keep our organization moving.
Outside of work, Ian is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting and fishing and loves getting away to his cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he and his wife enjoy unplugging and making the most of the outdoors. Ian is excited to make a meaningful difference and help serve his community.

David Donovan, President
Joined: December 2021
David and his wife, Connie, moved full-time to Harbor Springs in September 2020 after many years living in Okemos, Michigan and vacationing at a cottage on Lake Michigan.
David is a retired management consultant and active community volunteer. After retiring from the management consulting company he co-founded, which specialized in regulated utility management, David consulted independently with technology start-up companies, nonprofit organizations, healthcare organizations and universities. His consulting work has focused on strategic planning and organizational development.
David developed a passion for volunteerism serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer and program planner in Northeastern Brazil from 1971 to 1975. Since then he has served on a variety of corporate and nonprofit governing boards, including the Food Bank Council of Michigan for over ten years. Food banking has been a particular passion of his ever since David first began to volunteer with the Mid-Michigan Food Bank over thirty years ago. David is delighted to be able to continue this involvement by working with Manna.

Kevan Lawlor, Vice President

Kevan and his wife Wynne have been full-time Petoskey residents since 2022. They moved north from Brighton after vacationing in Charlevoix and Petoskey for over 30 years.
Kevan retired from NSF International after a 36 year career, the last 18 as CEO. NSF, based in Ann Arbor, is a global organization dedicated to improving human and planet health. NSF develops public health standards and provides testing, certification, consulting and training for food, water, health products and the environment. Kevan earned a BS degree in Finance from Penn State University and is a Certified Internal Auditor.
Kevan was an active volunteer in the Ann Arbor community and served on a number of non-profit organization Boards, including Food Gatherers, the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County, Cleary University, and the Dean’s Advisory Board at the UM School of Public Health. In addition, Wynne and Kevan have been regular volunteers at Manna and are committed to serving the local community.
Kevan and Wynne have two grown daughters living in St. Louis and Seattle and one granddaughter. Kevan enjoys traveling with Wynne, pickleball, kayaking and outdoor activities.

Lauren Meisel, Secretary

Lauren is a general pediatrician who works at Petoskey Child Health Associates. She has been in practice since 2007 after completing medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her residency at Brown University in Rhode Island. Since then, she has practiced in Marquette Michigan, San Rafael, California and now Petoskey.
Her interest in medicine has always focused on providing care to underserved, underinsured, or uninsured populations as well as promoting prevention and healthy lifestyles.
She moved to Petoskey last year to be closer to family in Michigan. According to Lauren, she has two amazing daughters, Greta and Elsa, who are 12 and 9 years old. Her wonderful husband, Karl, is a neurologist at McLaren and they have been married for 20 years. She loves to be active and outdoors swimming, hiking, skiing, and biking. When indoors her family likes to read, cook and play games. Lauren is excited to be a part of the Manna Board and is looking forward to serving the community.

Mike Nuorala, Treasurer

Mike Nuorala is a CPA that has been with KWN in Petoskey since December of 1996. Mike became a partner in the summer of 2001.
He has worked with and on multiple non-profit organizations, including Manna, while providing auditing services, accounting and financial assistance, tax preparation services, and governance consulting since joining the firm.
Mike has served on many Boards in the Petoskey area over the last 25 years, including a lengthy term on the Hospice Board in Petoskey.
He has two grown daughters and lives with his wife just outside of Petoskey. Mike’s wife also recently began volunteering at Manna.

Henry J. Brennan

Henry is a Partner at Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC and concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate law. He has represented both public and private companies in a wide variety of industries from automotive to emerging technology. Henry is a founder and a current Board Member of Grow Michigan, LLC, and Grow Michigan II, LLC, mezzanine/sub-debt funds created to provide growth capital to small and mid-size Michigan-based businesses. He is also a founder and former Board Member of FreightVerify, Inc., a technology-based transportation logistics service provider. He is also a founder and current officer (General Counsel) of SoniqWave Networks, LLC, a telecommunications business engaged in the aggregation of radio spectrum serving the mobile and fixed wireless markets.
Henry received a B.A., with honors, from the University of Michigan in 1979 and a J.D. with honors, from Wayne State University Law School in 1983. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, in 1983.
Henry has homes in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Petoskey, Michigan, but is residing almost exclusively in Petoskey. He has three grown daughters (two of which are recently married) living in Chicago, Brooklyn and Indianapolis. When not tending to his law practice and business pursuits, Henry is embracing life in northern Michigan.

Jim Jensen

Jim’s first experiences in Northern Michigan started with summer jobs on Mackinac Island. He and his wife of 31 years, Jennifer, raised their sons in Okemos before becoming permanent residents of Petoskey in 2008.
Jim graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Communications in 1971. After holding positions with NBC, the Hearst Corporation, and Cox Communications, Jim spent 33 years as President and CEO of radio station operators Liggett Broadcasting, Inc. and Liggett Communications LLC. He has held previous board positions with the Ingham County Hospital Foundation, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and the Boyne City Main Street/DDA. His family enjoys golfing, skiing, and the outdoors in all four seasons.
Jim first volunteered with Manna as a Food Rescue driver in the fall of 2018 and immediately felt the passion of the organization. “At Liggett Broadcasting, our mission was to address the significant issues faced in the markets where we operated, and do what we could to improve the lives of our listeners. Now in retirement, I’m honored to join the board of an organization that takes on the most important challenge: the task of feeding those in need.”

Dan Ledingham
Joined: October 2023
Dan is a lifelong resident of the Little Traverse Bay area, growing up in the Ponshewang area of Crooked Lake and graduating from Littlefield High School in Alanson. His education continued at Northern Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Since 1998, Dan’s been a financial advisor for Edward Jones, becoming a limited partner in 2002 specializing in estate & legacy strategies and intergenerational planning.
Extremely active in the community, he’s previously served on the board and as president of the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, on the boards of the North Central Michigan College Foundation, the Sunrise Rotary club, the Crooked Tree Arts Center and as president of the local Ducks Unlimited and the Petoskey Football Boosters.
Dan and his wife Mary have two grown sons Chase and Noah. In his spare-time he loves to hunt and fish and spend time traveling with Mary.

Bill McMaster
Joined: January 2017
Bill has been on the Manna board since 2016. He’s excited to be part of the team at Manna to help feed the hungry in Northern Michigan.
Bill and his brother Don own and operate Bill’s Farm Market, a 100-year-old Petoskey farm that has been in the family for generations. Bill is passionate about supporting his local community and improving its overall health and wellbeing.
“I love to help out on Tuesdays at the weekly pantry to shop with people who need food assistance,” Bill says.

Tom Squires
Joined: February 2021
Tom is a vice president with MedAdept, a health care IT company that helps those with chronic conditions maximize their wellness via MedAdepts’ software platforms. Tom hopes to extend this experience to Manna and the local communities so that everyone can have access to quality nutrition.
Tom is a physical therapist with degrees from Purdue and Washington Universities and works from his home office. The Squires family moved to Petoskey in 2013 but they have called Northern Michigan their home away from home since 2003. In addition to volunteering for his kids activities, Tom is involved with the Petoskey Kiwanis and is a volunteer with the Grand Traverse Conservancy.
When not chasing his kids around Michigan for their sports events, Tom likes to participate in all the outdoor activities that NoMi has to offer including water sports, golf, skiing, and mountain biking.

Chris VanSlembrouck
Joined: October 2025
Chris VanSlembrouck has lived in the Petoskey area for most of her adult life and is retired from McLaren Northern Michigan where she worked in the Human Resources department for 36 years as their Manager of Benefits and Compensation where her time was spent in benefit design and contracts, compensation, retirement programs, and the administration of these areas. Prior to working at McLaren, Chris worked as a purchasing agent for an electronics components company, in sales for a manufactured home builder, and in the broadcasting industry.
In April of 2024 she began actively volunteering at Manna and since then has served in the pantry area, done re-packing work and has delivered back packs for kids.
Chris lives in Petoskey. She has two grown children.
She very much looks forward to helping Manna in any capacity including serving on the Board of Directors.
