Hunger Action Month

You are here:

Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month across the country, and we need YOUR help to make a difference. The Manna Food Project is dedicated to ending hunger in our community, but we can’t do it alone.

Staggering Statistics

14% of people in Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim county face very low food security, meaning they do not have consistent access to food.
62% of households in our tri-county area are living below the SNAP threshold (200% of the federal poverty level).
One in three working households are not able to keep up with the cost of living in our region.

Hunger is a global problem, but families within our own community are struggling to keep food on the table or provide healthy meals. Food insecurity can effect anyone at anytime; it could be your neighbor, your coworker, or a friend. Just one unexpected bill can set a household back on bills and force them to make difficult decisions.

Together, we can make a meaningful impact and ensure that no one goes without food. Let’s take action this September!

JOIN THE FIGHT

Host a Food Drive

A food drive is aimed at collecting pantry staple food items to support our neighbors facing food insecurity. The Manna Food Project has over 40 distribution partners across Antrim, Charlevoix, and Emmet counties that provide food services to our neighbors, so your donation goes a long way.

Donations of any kind make a tremendous impact for our food insecure neighbors. While food drives offer vital support through donated shelf-stable goods, fund drives help Manna stretch your dollar even further. Monetary donations allow Manna to use our purchasing power to acquire our most needed items at deeply reduced rates.

Whether you want to host a food drive or a fund drive, use the link below to view our toolkit with helpful tips & information to make your drive a hit.
