Join us in celebrating the founding fathers of the Manna Food Project and the history of this success story. In 1987 the founders of Manna, Jim Alton, Joe Baird, Dennis Cross, Larry Paller, and Budd Tallberg, returned from an Emmaus Walk, a spiritual renewal movement of the last century. Inspired, the founders began a soup kitchen that served lunch a couple of days a week. A food pantry, much less than a full-fledged food bank serving 45 partner pantries and community kitchens in Northwest Michigan, was never foreseen.

We want to recognize these generous men for their determination and vision to feed the hungry. The Manna Food Project Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers strive to continue the legacy of feeding the hungry in Northern Michigan.
